Day-to-Day Bookkeeping & Transaction Processing
• Maintain accurate financial records for a portfolio of small to medium-sized business clients across various industries.
• Process accounts payable and receivable, including invoicing, collections, and supplier payments.
• Perform bank, credit card, and balance sheet reconciliations on a regular basis.
• Ensure data integrity and accuracy across all financial transactions.
• Process end-to-end payroll, including superannuation, PAYG withholding, and Single Touch Payroll (STP) reporting.
• Ensure compliance with relevant Australian payroll legislation, awards, and Fair Work requirements.
• Manage employee records, leave balances, and payroll-related queries.
• Prepare and assist with the lodgement of Business Activity Statements (BAS) and Instalment Activity Statements (IAS).
• Reconcile GST accounts and ensure accurate GST coding and treatment across transactions.
• Support clients with ongoing GST compliance and record-keeping requirements.
• Work across cloud-based accounting platforms including Xero, MYOB, and QuickBooks.
• Assist with system setup, data migration, and optimisation of client accounting systems.
• Identify opportunities to automate processes and improve efficiency through technology.
• Liaise with clients to collect financial information and resolve day-to-day queries.
• Build strong relationships with clients, acting as a trusted point of contact for bookkeeping matters.
• Escalate complex issues to senior accountants and collaborate on client deliverables.
• Assist in month-end close processes, including reconciliations and journal entries.
• Prepare basic management reports and support senior team members with financial reporting requirements.
• Highlight discrepancies or irregularities and proactively suggest improvements.
• Manage multiple client engagements, ensuring deadlines are met and work is delivered to a high standard.
• Maintain organised and up-to-date working papers and documentation.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the bookkeeping function.
• Exceptional communication skills both verbal and written
• Working toward completing CA or CPA qualification
• An ability to prioritise and manage multiple tasks to meet deadlines
